5/13/06 - The band is sad to announce that Bill Overton will be leaving the His Word family. After getting married on May 27th, he will be moving to Asheville, NC with his new wife Alison where he will be working for Eaton Electrical. Brian and Krista will be taking over as lead vocalists in Bill's absence. His Word would like to thank Bill for his many years of dedication to the band.
3/27/06 - Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support us at RealFest 06! We were so blessed to be able to take part in this event. And we ended up finishing second! But the real winners are everyone who came out to support Christian music. We'd like to thank especially Jeff Yale and the rest of the Prodigal Music staff, as well as the great people at Quest. RealFest was a top notch event. Also, thanks to RawnNReview for letting us come by and talk to you on the air! If those in attendance had half as much fun as we did, then RealFest was a great success!

2/21/06 - A lot has happened since the last update! His Word has been selected to play at RealFest on March 25th. Check their website for more information.
Also, some pictures from the Jan. 7th concert have now been posted to the pictures page. Be Glorified, a live CD recorded from that concert, should be available in the store soon. Keep checking back from more details!
1/10/06 - Happy New Year! His Word had a busy end to 2005, culminating with the concert on Jan 7th. In addition to the concert, His Word finished work on their first studio CD, Ready to Rock. It contains 5 original songs and a special cut of Breathe featuring Krista Slicker. Krista sang with His Word on the 7th and has officially joined the His Word family.
His Word is still waiting for more details on both RealFest and the Leukemia Benefit Concert. Details will be posted as they emerge. Check back soon for more information, and also for pictures from His Word's last concert!
12/16/05 - Voting on our submission for KCCM Song of the Year has ended. We'd like to thank everyone who voted for their support! The winner, runner up, and other finalists will be announced at the KCCM Music Awards on April 29, 2006. Check the KCCM site for details.
11/30/05 - Longing will be up for voting for KCCM Song of the Year until DEC. 15th! If you haven't voted yet, click here to vote now!
[Concert Update]: The concert at St. Anne's has been confirmed for Jan. 7th at 7pm. Also, the Legends Fighting Leukemia benefit concert has been moved to March 11th. Stage time for His Word for this event has not yet been announced. Check back for more info!
10/19/05 - Longing has been selected as a finalist in the KCCM Song of the Year contest for September. Voting will be throughout October. The winner of each month will advance to the finals, so we need your support! We entered Longing into the contest, and it appears as Song #5 this month. Click here to vote!
Also, the benefit concert on Jan 28th has been moved to the Ford Amphitheater. More information on this event will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
9/30/05 - His Word has expanded their presence on the web by joining several internet music communities. Check them out on SpiritRadio, Myspace, PureVolume, and KCCM. Links to their artist pages can be found in the links section.
Also, there is a possible change of venue for the Jan 28, 2006 benefit concert. There is a possibility the concert may move from Fantasy of Flight to the new Ford Ampitheater in Tampa. Check back for more info!
8/25/05 - Thank you to everyone who came out to see us for our final concerts of the summer! His Word would like to send a special thanks out to Omar for filling in on drums for the two concerts! Pictures from the concert at St. Catherine's are now up, and pictures from Holy Innocents are coming soon!
I Like Bananas is now available for order! If you attended summer camp, please order the CD through the Diocese, or see us in person at St. Anne's in order to receive special diocesan pricing! An information page about the CD should be up shortly, but if you love camp songs like Pharoah, Pharoah and Thuma Mina, you'll love this CD!
His Word has completed studio recording for three songs. Clips are now availble on the music section of this site. Since they are hoping to lay down tracks for a couple more songs, there are no plans as of yet for a CD release.
ALSO, His Word has been invited to play at the Legends Fighting Leukemia and Childhood Cancers Benefit Concert. It will be at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, FL (between Tampa and Orlando). Headliners for this concert include country superstars Josh Gracin and Diamond Rio. Check back for more information about this event!

6/13/05 - Picures from Dayspring Summer camp are now available on the pictures page. Also, His Word will be playing for the Back to School Bash at St. Catherine's Episcopal Church in Temple Terrace. The event is on Saturday, August 13th and starts at 7:30PM. Check back soon for more information on this and other concerts.
6/29/05 - Bill, Brian, and JR have just returned from several weeks at Dayspring Episcopal Conference Center in Ellenton, FL where they led music for Youth Camp and Elementary Camp. The camp was blessed with an amazing staff and awesome campers. The guys were able to record some tracks from worship, and they will be releasing a special 9 track album featuring these camp songs entitled I Like Bananas. And yes, the title track is definately on there! The CD is in finishing stages now, and will be available on this site by mid July. Bill is also working on camp DVDs which should be completed by the beginning of August. Along with the DVD, there will be a picture CD containing all the pictures taken during camp. Highlights of the pictures will be on the pics page shortly. There will be special pricing on the DVD, picture CD and music CD for those who attended the camp. Click here for more information.
Also, His Word has an event in the works on August 14th at Holy Innocense in Valrico. Check back for more information!
5/31/05 - Thank you to everyone who came out to the Concert on the Lawn this Saturday! It was a hot day, but there was a nice breeze to keep everyone cool, except for Bill and Mandy who happened to be standing in the sun for the longest period of time! At least the kiddy pools were good for more than keeping drinks cool! Pictures from the concert are now up on the pictures page.
5/20/05 - We regret to inform you that the concert at The Point Coffeehouse has been cancelled. They have moved to doing the coffeehouse once a month, and unfortunately our date will not be rescheduled. But don't worry, the lawn concert at St. Anne's is still on, and we hope to see you there for good food, great music, and lots of fun!
Also, along with our new domain name, we have new e-mail addresses which are now posted on the contacts page. Most importantly, the new general e-mail address for the band is info@hiswordband.com. Booking questions should be directed to booking@hiswordband.com.
5/12/05 - There may not have been any updates for a while, but a lot of things have been in the works for His Word! Coming up in May, His Word will be havinga couple of concerts. Check out the tour page for more information on these events. They will also be giving a concert during the Dayspring Episcopal camp, for which Bill is the music/worship leader. His Word is also trying to get everyone together to take part in ASCEND FEST, a Christian music festival on the east coast of Florida. More details on that later!
Also, as you may have noticed, His Word is now a .com site! The new address is http://www.hiswordband.com. The old URL (http://hisword.official.ws) will still work, but you should change your bookmarks just in case.
3/13/05 - St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church will be holding their annual Easter Festival this Saturday, March 19th, from 11AM - 3PM. His Word will be playing several sets throughout the day. There will also be food, games, and a petting zoo! All are welcome to attend! For directions or for more information, please e-mail us.
2/18/05 - His Word is now booking for Spring/Summer 2005. If you are interested in having His Word come to your event or church, visit the booking page for information and availability! His Word also has plans to work on a studio quality demo of original songs to be completed by Fall 2005, so keep watch for information on that!
Also, His Word is now part of KC Christian Music, a site that is home for many up and coming Christian artists. Right now we just have a bio and some contact information on their site, but look for more in the future!
2/17/05 - To free up room on our server, many of the older pictures will be removed from the His Word picture page in the near future. So if there are any old pictures that you want to have, download them now!
12/1/04 - Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday night to support His Word! And a special thank you to Jamie Kennaugh who came up all the way from Naples just for the concert! Pictures coming soon!

10/19/04 - This past Saturday, His Word played at St. Anne's Oktoberfest, an event which intended to bring people from the community in for music, fellowship, worhsip, and fun! Pictures coming soon!
8/30/04 - Ray Tunnell, father of drummer Mike Tunnell, passed away last week. He had been batling cancer, and has now gone on to be with the Lord. The rest of His Word, with Mandy Meloy playing keyboard, came together to play music for his service on Saturday celebrating his life, his faith, and his love. We will miss you Ray!
His Word also participated in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd's youth eucharist celebration on Sunday morning, and played for the Deanery youth eucharist later that afternoon. Good Shepherd was taking up donations for Hurricane Charlie relief. If you are interested in donating something, please contact us and we'll get you in touch with the right people.
8/17/04 - His Word has wrapped up their summer tour. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us. Pictures are coming soon! Also, His Word is now booking for the winter, and dates will be posted soon. In the meantime don't hesitate to contact us!
7/29/04 - 45, His Word's latest album, is now available. It features live tracks from Faith Fellowship Church's middle school camp, which was held at Webber International University in Babson Park, FL. Quantities are limited so order yours today! 7/21/04 - Several new clips from the camp at Babson Park have been added to the music page. There are also plans for a limited release CD with live tracks from the week. Check back for more info!
7/7/04 - His Word will be playing at Chapel on the Hill's Praise & Worship on July 31st. There will also be other groups providing music, drama, and dancing including Grace to Youth. A meal will be served starting at 6:00 PM. It will be a great night of fun and fellowship! More details will be coming soon!
6/29/04 - His Word will be wrapping up the summer concert season with concerts at St. Anne's in Seminole on August 1st and Christ Church in Bradenton on August 8th. The event on the 8th will be hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida and will also include a cookout. More information on these events coming soon!

6/19/04 - Bill and JR had a short break after last week's camp to lead music for the Diocese of Southwest Florida's Episcopal Elementary/High School Camp held at Dayspring Episcopal Conference Center in Ellenton, FL. JR also participated as an elementary school counselor. The week was filled with fun activities including several different worship experiences, ropes course activities, Wacky Wednesday, and more! Check out the pictures page for a small sampling of the week.
6/13/04 - His Word has just returned from Faith Fellowship's Jr. High Camp which was held at Webber International University in Babson Park, FL. It was a great week of camp filled with worship, teachings, a guitar class taught by the band, and more. His Word even found time to demonstrate their skills (or lack thereof) in the vollyball tournament! Pictures from this event are now up on the pictures page.
His Word would like to say a special thank you to Jamie Kennaugh for filling in on drums for Mike Tunnell who had to miss this week. Also, they would like to specially thank Leeann Jedlovec for filling in on keyboard for Janet Tunnell who had to miss several days of camp.

4-18-04 - Due to registration problems, the conference in Tampa, FL on May 7th has been cancelled. There is a chance His Word might do a different event for the FB Synod this summer. Check back for details!
4-10-04 - Acoustic versions of some of His Word's new songs, performed by lead singer Bill Overton, are now available on the music page. Check them out, and look for full band versions in the future!
4-8-04 - His Word's first full band CD, We Will Worship, is now in production! It should be released on April 18th. Go to the store and order your copy today!
4-6-04 - His Word will be performing at St Anne's Easter Festival on April 10th. This will be a free outdoor concert on the church grounds. They will be doing an opening set at 12:00 PM and will do a closing set after a performance by St. Anne's youth group, Grace to Youth. All our welcome to join the festivities. The band will be without lead singer Bill Overton who is still away at Clemson University.

Also, several members His Word were able to attend the Newsboys Adoration Tour last week. They were able to meet the members of the band as well as Rebecca St. James (pictured below) who opened for the Newsboys. Jeremy Camp was also an opening act for the concert. His Word encourages you to check out this tour if you have the opportunity!

3-25-04 - Preview the cover art for His Word's new CD, We Will Worship, in the His Word store now! There are also sound clips available for select tracks. The CD is still set for a late April release, but that doesn't mean you can't reserve your copy today! You can pre-order We Will Worship today and it will be shipped to you as soon as it is in stock!
3-21-04 - Bill just returned from opening for (and jamming with!) ReInvented in Charlotte. He had a blast and thanks ReInvented for inviting him to play with them. Bill hopes to continue collaborating in the future. His Word is still working on getting together some dates to tour with ReInvented this summer.
The concert on April 18th has been changed to An Acoustic Evening with Bill Overton and Justin Evans. The concert will be in Storytellers style and feature original songs by Bill and Justin as well as other fun suprises. Time of show and venue will be announced shortly.
3-19-04 - We Will Worship, His Word's first full band CD which was recorded live from their Winter '03 Tour, is scheduled for release in April. Check out sound clips and track listings in the store.
3-18-04 - Tons of updates are underway right now including new pictures and MP3s. If you are having problems with broken links or missing pages, they should all be fixed within the next few days. Sorry for any inconvenience!
1-17-04 - For those of you who were having trouble viewing the page correctly, several more fonts have been added to the page (your web browser selects the font automatically) and one that made the page harder to read has been removed. For best viewing we recommend that you download one of the fonts at the bottom of the main page and set your display resolution to 1024 by 768. You should have no problems with those settings. If you have further problems with page display, please let us know!
1-16-04 - Bill will be opening for the band ReInvented on March 20th. He will be playing a solo acoustic set. Time and location information will be announced soon. ReInvented and His Word are also working on putting on some joint concerts this summer. Bill and ReInvented drummer Justin Evans play together at Clemson United Methodist church on Sunday nights.

1-7-04 - His Word would like to thank everyone who came out and supported them this winter. This was a winter of many changes. His Word had to say goodbye to Mandy Meloy (USF internship) and Geoff McNeave (Army), but they also welcomed new keyboardist Janet Tunnell. They also used their new lighting system for the first time on this tour, which was very exciting. His Word is now ready to work on dates for the spring and summer. Check back for updates!
Pictures from several of the Winter Concerts have been added, and there have been other general updates to the site. We hope to have new videos up soon!
12-27-03 - Janet Tunnell will be the new keyboardist for His Word. She will be joining the band on Dec. 31st for their New Year's concert at Good Samaritan. She also plays keyboard for St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church. His Word is happy to bring her into the family.
12-21-03 - His Word will be saying goodbye to keyboardist Mandy Meloy before this winter's tour. Mandy, who is an active leader of the Methodist student ministry at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, feels she is being called to deepen her committment there. Due to the time requirements of her position, she will no longer be able to perform with His Word. We all wish her the best of luck. She will be greatly missed. Mandy had been a member of His Word since its inception.

10-30-03 - It's been a while, but pictures from the Aug. 3rd concert at New Beginnings Church are now up on the pictures page. Also, the publicity shots are now back up. Check them out!
10-22-03 - His Word will be playing for "Where Do We Go From Here?", a Lutheran Young Adult retreat in Deerfield Beach, FL. Check back for more information!
10-21-03 - Geoff McNeave will be taking a break from His Word for a while as he is serving our country in the US Army. We wish him the best of luck and pray for his safe return. Geoff hopes to return on leave for the December concerts!

10-5-03 - His Word is currently working on two December shows, on the 29th and 30th. Check back for updates on these shows!
8-4-03 - On behalf of His Word and Grace to Youth, thank you to all those who came out to the Aug. 3rd show. This show marks the end of His Word's summer tour. There are currently no shows on the schedule but if you or someone you know is interested in having His Word come to your event, have them contact us! We thank everyone for their support this summer and hope to see you soon!
7-28-03 - His Word would like to thank everyone who came out to their concerts on July 20th and 21st! They sincerely hope that you not only enjoyed yourself, but were touched by the power of God through their playing. There is one more summer event on August 3rd when they will be playing before a show by Grace to Youth, the youth group from St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church. The concert will be at New Beginnings Church in St. Petersburg at 6:00 PM. Please call or e-mail if you have any questions!

6-6-03 - His Word has added another concert to their summer schedule. They will be playing at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg on July 21st at 7:00 PM. If you are wishing to bring His Word to your church, act quickly! There aren't many dates left!
5-25-03 - His Word is excited about events coming up this summer. Two concerts have been scheduled, including a St. Anne's show that will have a cookout beforehand, and accomodations in the parish hall for youth groups who have come a long way and don't want to drive back late at night. There is also a list of available dates. For more information on dates, please visit the Tour page. His Word also has plans to send out small teams to youth groups to lead some praise and worship and share their mission. If you are interested in having members from His Word come to your youth group (or any group!) please contact His Word.

5-08-03 - His Word returned earlier this week from the Lutheran Synod Convention in Daytona Beach, FL. They played at a youth eucharist, a general convention session, and the closing eucharist over the course of the weekend. Pictures will be up soon. They are now getting their schedule together for summer touring, so contact them soon if you want to bring His Word to your event!
4-22-03 - A few pictures from Fill it Up With Praise are now up. Also, His Word will be joining with GTY to put on Youth Sunday at St. Hillary's in Ft. Myers, FL. The time of the events will be listed shortly.
3-27-03 - A His Word Artist Contract/Agreement is now on the booking page. If you are interested in booking His Word, please contact His Word first before filling it out. His Word also has a support page for those wanting to help us sustain and expand our ministry.
3-24-03 - Thank you to everyone who came out to Fill it Up With Praise despite the rainy weather. We had a great time and we were excited to have Mike as our drummer! And just because you missed the concert doesn't mean you have to miss the canned food drive! If you have any canned items you would like to donate, please drop them off at the USF Chapel Center.
His Word has committed to playing at the Florida-Bahamas Lutheran Synod Convention in Daytona Beach, FL on May 2nd-May 4th. They will be joining several other musicians to provide worship and workshops over the course of this weekend. For more information on the conference, check out the homepage of the Florida-Bahamas Synod.
3-10-03 - His Word will be leading music for the Lutheran Synod Assembly in Daytona Beach, FL the first weekend in May. More information will be available on this conference shortly. Also, many pages of the His Word site have been updated so please check out our new content!
Don't forget, Fill it Up With Praise is only weeks away. If you are in the Tampa area, please come by and check out His Word and the other great bands supporting the USF Chapel Center's canned food drive. Admission is free but try to bring a canned food! The Chapel Center will also be serving food for a $3 donation.

2-14-03 - Live at St. Anne's was officially released today. You can order it through the online store, or purchase a copy at any His Word concert!
2-1-03 - Live At St. Anne's release date has been pushed back to Feb. 14th, but you can still preorder your copy today so that as soon as the CDs are in production, yours can be mailed to you! Check it out in the store.

1-21-03 - We are sorry that the His Word website was down for a good portion of the weekend. The Clemson web servers which host this site were having technical difficulties. That is also why many pictures were failing to appear even after the page was back up. We expect the problem to be corrected before the end of the day.
1-16-03 - His Word will be releasing a new album entitled Live at St. Anne's on Feb. 1st. It was taped live from the concert on Dec. 29th, 2002. You can find more information on this at the store.

1-12-03 - His Word would like to congratulate Linda Barley on her upcoming ordination to the deaconate. The service will be Saturday, Jan. 18th at St. Peter's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, FL. His Word will be playing at a reception afterrwards at St. Anne of Grace in Seminole.
1-11-03 - Fill it Up With Praise will be March 23rd from 12 noon to 6 PM at the USF Chapel Center in Tampa, FL. His Word will be appearing along with Evan and Small Fish, Ezekiel's Eyes, Nathan Morris, Bill Overton (solo) and others. These artists are playing to support the Chapel Center's canned food drive. The Chapel Center will also have food available for a $3 donation.
1/09/03 - The mailing list form on the contact page is working fine now. The mailing list will be used primarily to announce concerts and demo/CD releases. His Word will NEVER give your e-mail to anyone! Join today and stay up to date with what's going on!

1/08/03 - Happy New Year to all of you from the members of His Word! We apologize to everyone that the web page wasn't updated over the Christmas holidays. We weren't able to access the web server. Some updates are now complete and others will be up shortly.
We regret to inform you that the January 19th show has been cancelled due to transportation problems. However, His Word will be performing at USF in March. Bill will also be performing solo beforehand. More information will be up on this event as it is available.
